LSx or LS1 Based Engine Amsoil EaO Oil Filters

Just some food for thought. On pre-2007 LSx or LS1 based engines, there are two oil filters that will fit your vehicle. The EaO32 is the car based version and the EaO64 is the truck version. The only difference is that the truck filter is about 1 1/8″ longer, giving you a little bit more capacity. Everything else is the same. Both have anti-drain-back valves.

For 2007 and newer the same filter, EaO50 is used on all LSx LS based engines, car and truck both.

Absolute Efficiency
AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters (EaO) have the best efficiency rating in the industry. EaO Filters provide a filtering efficiency in accordance with industry standard ISO 4548-12 of 98.7 percent at 15 microns, while competitive filters containing conventional cellulose medias range from 40 to 80 percent efficiency.

Less Restriction
AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters have significantly lower restriction than conventional cellulose media filters. Their small synthetic nanofibers trap smaller particles and hold more contaminants, resulting in lower restriction. During cold temperature warm-up periods, an EaO lube filter allows the oil to easily flow through the filter compared to a typical cellulose filter. Lower restriction decreases engine wear.

More Capacity
A filter’s capacity refers to the amount of contaminants it can hold and still remain effective. AMSOIL EaO Filters have a far greater capacity than competing filter lines. When used in conjunction with AMSOIL synthetic motor oils in normal service, EaO Filters are guaranteed to remain effective for up to 25,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first.

Superior Construction
AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters are made with premium-grade full synthetic media. The strictly controlled processing of this media ensures accurate filter construction, and is what allows Ea Oil Filters to deliver higher capacity and efficiency along with better durability.

Over the service life of a conventional cellulose filter, hot oil will degrade the resins that bind the media. The Ea Oil Filters’ full synthetic media technology is resin-free. It uses a wire screen backing that is pleated with the media for superior strength.

Ea Oil Filters are constructed with HNBR nitrile gaskets that are fully tested to extreme distances in numerous severe environments. The filters also feature fully tucked seams, a molded element seal, roll-formed threads and a long-lasting premium-grade silicone anti-drain valve.

Applications
AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters provide superior oil filtration for vehicles in the auto/light truck market.

Service Life
AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters are guaranteed for 25,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first, when used in conjunction with AMSOIL Synthetic Motor Oil. AMSOIL recommends changing the oil filter at the time of oil change.

If used in conjunction with AMSOIL Motor Oil that is being changed at intervals less than 25,000 miles, the EaO Filter should be changed at the same time. AMSOIL EaO Filters are not guaranteed for 25,000 miles when used with any oil other than AMSOIL Motor Oil and should be changed according to vehicle OEM recommendations.

Amsoil Motorcyle Oil Information

SAE 20W-50 Synthetic Motorcycle Oil (MCV) V-Twin air cooled

AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oils have been reformulated with new high performance additive technology that provides even greater multi-functional benefits for the special requirements of motorcycle applications. These independent and exclusive new AMSOIL formulations provide second-to-none viscosity protection for hot-running American and foreign motorcycle engines, transmissions and primary chaincases. Performance specifications include: API SG, SL/CF; JASO MA

AMSOIL 20W-50 Synthetic Motorcycle Oil
(MCV) recommended for Harley-Davidson, Buell, Victory, Ducati, BMW, Aprilla and Triumph motorcycles calling for a 15W-50 or 20W-50 viscosity, providing superior protection in engines, transmissions and primary chaincases.

Improved Transmission Protection
AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oils not only provide superior protection for motorcycle engines, they also provide superior gear protection, meeting API GL-1 gear lube viscosity requirements. AMSOIL Synthetic 10W-40 Motorcycle Oil (MCF) meets SAE 80W-90 gear lube requirements, while AMSOIL Synthetic 20W-50 Motorcycle Oil (MCV) meets SAE 90 gear lube viscosity requirements.

Viscosity is the most important characteristic of a lubricant. Motorcycle gears create a shearing effect that causes permanent oil viscosity loss. This thinning effect reduces the oil's ability to prevent metal-to-metal contact and wear. The stability and natural operating temperature ranges of the premium synthetic base stocks used to formulate AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oils eliminate shear and reduce wear. AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oils exhibit absolute shear stability as measured by the Kurt Orbon shear stability test.

The high temperatures and tight tolerances common to motorcycle applications also affect viscosity. The High Temperature/High Shear (HTHS) Test (ASTM D-4683) measures a lubricant's viscosity under severe high temperature and shear conditions. The more resistant an oil is to high temperature viscosity loss, the better it protects, and even a HTHS difference of 0.1 cP makes a significant difference.

AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oils exhibit higher HTHS viscosities than competing conventional and synthetic motorcycle oils. As seen in the graphs, AMSOIL Synthetic 20W-50 and 10W-40 Motorcycle Oils displayed the highest High Temperature/High Shear viscosities in their respective test groups, providing motorcycle engines and transmissions operating in the harshest conditions with superior protection against wear and viscosity loss and eliminating the need for separate gear case oils as recommended by some competitors. Synthetic 10W-40 may also be used in two-cycle transmissions.

Reduces Friction, Heat and Wear
In high heat conditions, engine protection is not sacrificed with AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oil. It has the best high temperature film strength (see High Temperature Viscosity Protection graph below) of all oils tested and contains a heavy treatment of anti-wear additives to reduce wear regardless of the operating conditions (see Wear Comparison graph on reverse). AMSOIL MCV is thermally (heat) stable and contains maximum levels of oxidation inhibitor additives. It is extremely resistant to breakdown and engineered to prevent damaging sludge and carbon deposits for superior engine cleanliness.

APPLICATIONS
AMSOIL Synthetic 20W-50 Motorcycle Oil is recommended for air or liquid cooled 4-stroke engines. It meets SAE 90, API GL-1 gear oil requirements and is recommended for transmissions and primary chaincases. AMSOIL MCV is recommended for Harley Davidson®, Buell®, Victory®, Ducati®, Aprilia®, BMW®, Triumph® and other motorcycles where 15W-50 or 20W-50 engine oils or SAE 90, GL-1 gear oils are used. Not recommended for shaft drive hypoid gears or where an API GL-4 or GL-5 gear oil is required.

MIXING AMSOIL
AMSOIL Synthetic 20W-50 Motorcycle Oil is compatible with conventional and synthetic motor oils; however, mixing oils may shorten the oil life expectancy and reduce the performance benefits. AMSOIL does not support extended drain intervals where oils have been mixed.
Aftermarket oil additives are not recommended for use with AMSOIL motorcycle oil.

SERVICE LIFE
For “on road” use in engines, transmissions and primary chaincases, change AMSOIL MCV and AMSOIL engine oil filter at twice the motorcycle manufacturer change interval or one year, whichever comes first. Change other brand oil filters at standard intervals. For “off road” use in engines, transmissions and primary chaincases, change AMSOIL MCV at the standard motorcycle manufacturer change interval. For racing or in engines modified from the original factory design, no change interval recommendation is made. Oil changes are at the owner's discretion.

Could using AMSOIL Synthetic Motor Oil void your vehicle warranty?

Absolutely not: Vehicle manufacturers recommend using motor oils meeting certain grades and American Petroleum Institute service requirements. Whether the motor oil is petroleum based or synthetic will not affect warranty coverage. The manufacturer is required to cover all equipment failures it would normally cover as long as the oil meets the requirements and was not the cause of the failure. AMSOIL exceeds these requirements and has never been deemed the cause of an engines failure. Even so, AMSOIL has its own limited warranty, protecting you even further. In addition, the Federally mandated Magnuson-Moss act states that a manufacturer may not require the use of a specific brand of aftermarket product unless it is provided free of charge.

This also applies to aftermarket parts installed on your vehicles. The manufacturer must prove that the part that you installed caused the damage. An example would be an aftermarket high performance mass air flow sensor. If your engine is damaged or you have an emissions problem and your aftermarket part did not cause the damage, the dealer/manufacturer can not void your warranty.

How can Amsoil save me money

No doubt about it, a quart of AMSOIL costs more than a quart of most other oils on the market. What justifies that high price? Does AMSOIL really cost more to use?

With lubricants, you get what you pay for. Low-cost oils are formulated with low-cost, low-quality materials and marketed specifically on their low price. The problem with most low-cost, low-quality lubricants is that they can't maintain their original performance very long once they are exposed to the harsh environment of the engine or other lubricated systems. They break down, lose their ability to protect, and worse yet, contribute to component degradation by producing sludge, acids and other performance-robbing substances.

AMSOIL synthetic lubricants are performance-formulated, not cost-formulated. In fact, AMSOIL synthetic lubricants often contain materials that other oil makers don't include in their formulations simply because of cost considerations. But the AMSOIL emphasis on product quality pays off for the customer with longer-lasting, better-performing cars, equipment and lubricants. In fact, AMSOIL users who extend their lubricant drain intervals actually save money over what they'd spend on conventional lubricants changed at conventional drain intervals.

*Example Conventional motor oils should be changed at approximately 6,000 mile intervals. Popular conventional motor oils cost approximately $2.00 a quart.

AMSOIL synthetic motor oils (excluding the XL motor oils) may be used for intervals of 25,000 miles or one year whichever comes first. AMSOIL ATM, AMO and ASL cost $7.05 a quart (U.S. pricing). Become a Preferred Customer and save even more!

  • FACT: Most passenger cars hold five quarts of oil.
  • Labor costs about $15 for an oil change.
  • The cost of driving 25,000 miles with conventional oil: .............................$100.00
  • The cost of driving 25,000 miles with AMSOIL OIL:....................................$ 35.25
    Savings: ....................................................$64.75:

Tip: You can order Amsoil, have it shipped to your door and take it in to an oil change place to have it installed.

This doesn't even take into account fuel economy savings. The time saved through extended drain intervals is valuable, too. After all, how much is it worth to you to spend time off doing something you enjoy rather than changing motor oil?

Those who use AMSOIL EAA Air Filters also save over what they'd spend on conventional air filters.

Air filters should be changed at 15,000 to 30,000 mile intervals, depending on service. A conventional air filter may cost $14.00. AMSOIL EAA air filters are guaranteed 100,000 mile or 4 years. The EAA129 AMSOIL Absolute Efficiency Air Filter costs approximately $34.15 (U.S. pricing).

  • The cost of driving 30,000 to 60,000 miles with conventional filters (two filters):...............................................$28.00
  • The cost of driving 100,000 miles with the AMSOIL EAA129 good for 100,000 miles or 4 years (gently blow clean at 25,000 miles/1year)..........$34.15
    Savings: ........................................................$42.00+

Savings increase by $14 increments each time the purchase of a new conventional filter is avoided by reuse of the AMSOIL EAA Air Filter.

Motorists who use the AMSOIL Absolute Efficiency Oil Filter (EAO) also save money over what they'd spend on conventional oil filters.

Conventional oil filters should be changed at approximately 6000 miles intervals. Conventional oil filters cost about $7.00.

AMSOIL EAO Filters may be used for 25,000 miles or 1 year, whichever comes first. The AMSOIL EAO-24 Filter costs $15.75 (U.S. pricing).

  • The cost of driving 25,000 miles with a conventional filter:.........................$28.00
